FAQs
What is Ready, Set, Food!?
Ready, Set, Food! is a daily supplement that gently introduces your baby to peanut, egg, and milk, the three most common childhood food allergens. Simply add a packet of Ready, Set, Food! to your baby's breast milk, formula, or food starting between 4-12 months of age, and continue for 6 months or until your baby is eating these foods regularly in their diet.
The 2020 USDA-HHS Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee Report says to "avoid foods and beverages with added sugars during the first 2 years of life", and our product fully complies as it doesn’t contain any artificial additives or added sugar. Our ingredients are ONLY organic peanuts, egg, and milk, and are sourced from real foods that are organic and non-GMO.
If my baby has an intolerance to peanut, egg, or milk, can they still use Ready, Set, Food!?
Yes. We use very small amounts of each food protein in our packets, so even if your baby has an intolerance to any of the 3 foods (such as cow's milk), it is still gentle enough to use. In fact, the protein amounts we use are equivalent to less than 1 teaspoon of yogurt or cow’s milk, 1/8th teaspoon of peanut butter, and 1/250th of a cooked egg.
For most, it is completely okay to reintroduce a food you are intolerant to, and if you find that your baby has an intolerance to any of the foods in Ready, Set, Food!, we still encourage you to give our product a try. Doctors typically recommend reintroducing foods you are intolerant to, and we have a 30-day money-back guarantee should you not be satisfied.
If your baby has a confirmed food allergy to cow's milk or egg, we do offer dairy-free and egg-free options, and you can click here to view them. It's very important to note that our product is not intended to treat existing food allergies. Once an allergy develops, there is no cure. If you aren't sure if your baby has an intolerance, you can speak to your pediatrician.
My pediatrician recommended Bamba. How is it different than Ready, Set, Food!?
Bamba only introduces peanut and doesn't introduce other common food allergens such as egg and cow's milk (both of which are difficult to avoid). Ready, Set, Food! introduces peanut, egg, and milk. Peanuts make up only 25% of childhood food allergies, while egg and cow’s milk make up another 55% of childhood food allergies. Bamba can be effective for introducing peanuts, but it is two-thirds fat and is high in saturated fat because it contains palm oil. Ready, Set, Food! uses ingredients from real foods that are organic, non-GMO, and contain no artificial additives and no added sugar.
The newly released 2020 USDA-HHS Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee Report recommends “introducing peanut and egg in an age-appropriate form, in the first year of life (after age 4 months).”
Why can't I do early allergen introduction myself?
You can introduce allergenic foods to your baby on your own using any method, though it’s important to note, these foods must be fed frequently (2-7 times a week for several months).
Parents often have trouble consistently feeding these foods to their babies. Ready, Set, Food! takes the guesswork out of allergen introduction (e.g. determining how much of each allergenic food to give your baby), and our convenient daily packets make it easy to not only feed the foods once but include them in your baby's regular diet.
Why do you only include 3 allergens? Why not others like shellfish, or tree nuts?
Although more than 170 foods have been identified as triggers of food allergies, the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act classifies 8 foods as the major food allergens. Those 8 foods are milk, egg, peanut, tree nuts, shellfish (such as shrimp), fish, wheat, and soy. From these 8 foods, only milk, egg, and peanut make up 80% of food allergies found in children, which is why we chose to focus on the introduction of peanuts, eggs, and milk for Ready, Set, Food!. Introducing peanut and egg in an age-appropriate form, in the first year of life (after age 4 months) is consistent with the 2020 USDA-HHS Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee Report. Other food allergies such as shellfish typically develop as an adult.

“Amazing Product”
Ready, Set, Food! has prepared our little one for her transition to foods with decreased worry on our part. They also offered great customer service and were quick to reply with any concerns I had. I would definitely recommend this to any parent.
