Organic Oat & Fruit Bars FAQ
Still have questions about Ready. Set. Food! Organic Oat and Fruit Bars? Read through our FAQ below.
When can I use the Organic Oat & Fruit Bars?
After introducing the top allergens, medical guidelines recommended that you keep feeding your child these allergens until these foods become part of your child’s everyday diet.
In addition to serving your little one a diverse diet, our bars provide another safe, yummy way to maintain that allergen exposure once your little one is confidently eating different textures of solids.
If you are already feeding your baby 9 of the top allergens using our Stage 3 Mix-ins or Organic Baby Oatmeal, you can add our new Organic Oat & Fruit Bars to your child’s regular diet when your child is ready. Our bars have 8 of the same allergens – peanut, egg, milk, cashew, almond, walnut, sesame, and soy – already in every tasty bite.
What age are the Organic Oat & Fruit Bars recommended for?
Organic Oat & Fruit Bars are recommended for ages 12 months and up. They should be fed to seated, supervised children who are accustomed to eating solid foods.
They are recommended for children who:
- Stand or walk without support
- Can feed themselves with fingers
- Have developed back teeth and can chew through a variety of foods
Can I use Organic Oat & Fruit Bars to introduce allergens? (In other words, can I use them if I haven’t fed my child the 8 top allergens inside them yet?)
Organic Oat & Fruit Bars are a convenient way to encourage diet diversity and provide regular exposure to top allergens once you’ve introduced them in your child’s diet. These snacks are meant to be served as one part of a diverse, nutritious diet.
We recommend starting with Ready. Set. Food! Mix-ins or Organic Baby Oatmeal to introduce allergens before adding in our Bars.
- For babies under 12 months, we recommend our Mix-ins and/or Organic Baby Oatmeal for introduction of 9 top allergens (peanut, egg, cow’s milk, almond, cashew, walnut, sesame, soy, wheat). Start with Stage 1 Mix-ins first if your child hasn’t been introduced to peanut, egg, and milk yet.
- For babies and toddlers 12+ months old or ready for more complex textures, you can use these bars for allergen introduction. However, we always recommend using Stage 1 Mix-ins first for one-at-a-time introduction of the top 3 allergens (peanut, egg, cow’s milk), if your child hasn’t been introduced to those allergens yet.
Can I feed my child these Bars to my child on the same day that I use Ready. Set. Food! Mix-ins or Organic Baby Oatmeal?
If you’ve already introduced allergens (peanut, egg, cow’s milk, almond, cashew, walnut, sesame, soy, wheat) to your child, feel free to feed your child these Bars on the same day as you feed Ready. Set. Food! Stages 2 and 3 Mix-ins or Organic Baby Oatmeal, to maintain the exposure.
If you haven’t introduced allergens yet, we recommend starting with our Stage 1 Mix-ins first before expanding exposure to other allergens with our other products.
Why don’t the Organic Oat & Fruit bars contain wheat?
We always want to create the best-tasting products that also include as many of the top allergens as possible. In this case, the best tasting bar with the most important allergens we could make included 8 top allergens, and did not include wheat.
Fortunately, there are many healthy and delicious solid foods that contain wheat, so it’s easy to feed your child wheat on a regular basis and maintain your child’s exposure to this common allergen. Ready. Set. Food! Organic Baby Oatmeal does contain wheat, so that’s one option to feed your child wheat (plus the 8 allergens also included in our Oat & Fruit Bars).
